The blockbuster ONE Fight Night 31 went down in Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Stadium on May 3, where two grudge bouts headlined the event.
The main event featured an electrifying rematch between two of Muay Thai's greatest strikers, Kongthoranee Sor Sommai and Nong-O Hama.
The 38-year-old Thai megastar Nong-O came into the fight with a simple yet effective plan: go for an all-out attack on his rival, who defeated him narrowly in their last outing in February.
With over 350 professional fights under his belt, the former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion knows how to take revenge. He delivered powerful attacks throughout the three rounds to claim a unanimous decision victory.
This win made him US$50,000 richer, earning a performance bonus for his memorable fight. Now, the Thai legend has set his sights on the vacant ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title.
In the co-main event, Tye Ruotolo did what was expected of him, dominating his Canadian dance partner Dante Leon with a unanimous decision.
The 22-year-old grappling sensation successfully defended his ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Championship, marking his triumphant return after a nasty knee injury.
The shocker of the event came from Iranian debutant Abolfazl Alipourandi, who accepted the fight on short notice against British sensation Liam Nolan.
Alipourandi landed a high kick on Nolan that flattened him for good in just 59 seconds. With this impressive win, the 29-year-old star has put the entire lightweight Muay Thai division on notice.
