ONE 171: Joshua Pacio Unifies Strawweight Title

ONE Championship, in partnership with Visit Qatar, delivered an action-packed evening at ONE 171: Qatar on Friday, featuring two high-stakes World Title bouts in MMA and kickboxing at Lusail Sports Arena.

In the main event, Joshua Pacio made a triumphant return from a long-term knee injury, stopping Jarred Brooks via second-round TKO to unify the ONE Strawweight MMA World Title. Pacio endured a tough first round, where Brooks dominated with a powerful slam and aggressive submission attempts. However, the Filipino fighter turned the tide in the second round, dropping Brooks with a counter right hand before finishing him with ground-and-pound at the 4:22 mark. The victory earned Pacio a $50,000 performance bonus.

In the co-main event, Jonathan Haggerty defended his ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title, ending Wei Rui’s 21-fight winning streak with a unanimous decision victory. After a slow first round, Haggerty applied relentless pressure, landing clean right hooks and high kicks to outclass the Chinese challenger over five rounds.

The event also saw highlight-reel knockouts from Roberto Soldic, Shamil Erdogan, and Hussein Salem, as well as notable submission victories from Ayaka Miura and Kade Ruotolo.

ONE Championship extended its gratitude to its event partners, including Visit Qatar, Media City Qatar, Ooredoo, Monster Energy, Walrus, and Lusail Sports Arena.
