In an Instagram post, ONE Lightweight World Champion Ok Rae Yoon thanked everyone who helped him achieve his lifelong dream.
But while he has reached the summit of mixed martial arts, the Team MAD representative is aware that his journey has just begun.
“I will think of this as another start of my career. [I will] stay humble and defend my title next,” he said.
He will have the opportunity to prolong his reign when he faces old foe and former ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian Lee at ONE 160 on 26 August at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Their rematch will happen almost a year after Ok defeated Lee for the crown at ONE: REVOLUTION.
Ok paid his dues before becoming a ONE World Champion by defeating former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat Gafurov and mixed martial arts icon Eddie Alvarez. Now that he will face Lee again, the South Korean mixed martial artist took some time to relax before preparing for his upcoming fight.
In the post, Ok is seen chilling at the beach before undergoing another training camp for his main event clash at ONE 160.
It’s like the calm before the storm as he tries to defeat “The Warrior” again. His opponent will also intently prepare for this battle because he believes he won their first encounter.
These two fighters will deliver another epic showdown. Just like in their first fight, Ok’s resiliency should be on display as Lee seizes every opportunity to go for a submission.
But like in his photo at the beach, Ok will remain calm while deflecting Lee’s attacks. And his durability could spell the difference between winning and losing.
Aside from the rematch between Ok and Lee, ONE Featherweight World Champion Thanh Le will also defend his title belt against top-ranked contender Tang Kai.
The Chinese competitor earned his title shot after defeating #2-ranked contender Kim Jae Woong at ONE X and emphatically calling Le out.
