Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Nikhat Zareen wants the autograph of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi following her triumph in Birmingham. Zareen, who clinched Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games which was held in Birmingham, had also won the World Championship Gold Medal recently making it a memorable run for her.
Speaking to ANI, Zareen recalled the time when she took a photo with the Prime Minister and added that she plans to get an autograph on her boxing glove.
"I'm very excited to meet him (PM Modi); I took a selfie with him last time & want a new one now. Last time, I took his autograph on my T-shirt, now I'll take it on my boxing gloves," Nikhat Zareen told ANI.
She further went on to add that she is thrilled to have won the gold medal for the country while adding that she cannot express her happiness in words.
“I'm thrilled to have won the Gold for my country. This was my next major competition after World Championships; people expected me to win Gold here as well, so I am very glad. I can't describe the moment (during the National Anthem), it was memorable and very emotional for me. I am hoping to give such performances further and make my nation proud,” Zareen added.
India secured a total of 22 Medals in Combat Sports alone at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. 7 out of these medals came from Boxing with the likes of Nitu Ghanghas, Amit Panghal and Nikhat Zareen securing gold medals.
