Former ONE Champion Martin Nguyen says that having Aung La N Sang in his corner is a blessing.
Martin Nguyen, a former two-division ONE World Champion, claimed he had "one chance and one chance alone" to start another charge for the featherweight championship. He overcame his first challenge on Friday when he utterly destroyed the seasoned Leonardo Casotti in a genuine firefight.
Throughout the first round, the Vietnamese-Australian dynamo injured his opponent's lead leg. In the second, he down the Brazilian kickboxing champion with his patented overhand right.
With two minutes remaining in the last round, Nguyen, the #4-ranked contender in the division, secured his first takedown. He then moved to the mount position and rained down elbows until the bell sounded to signal the finish of the featherweight MMA fight.
The unanimous decision victory brought Nguyen's record up to 15-6 and maintained his chances of winning the World Championship.

Nguyen had former two-division champion Aung La in the corner and during the post-fight interview, Nguyen noted that it is a blessing to have the Burmese Python by his side.
“You know someone, as experienced as Aung La N Sang in the corner, is a blessing and you know he has that third-eye view. You know so that's me and my opponent locking onto each other I can't see everything else. The distance and all I cannot say I have to kind of work it out as I fight and we as we move and he gets to see all of that from the sidelines and having that experience and having someone yell at you and with just saying the right things you know it's a blessing,” Nguyen said in the post-fight interview.
