The highly anticipated rematch between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal has been rescheduled with a new date and venue, shifting from June 1 at Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., to July 6 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., as confirmed by MMA Junkie.
Originally slated for June 1, the change in date was prompted by scheduling conflicts with other major combat sports events. Notably, UFC 302 is set to feature a lightweight title main event between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Additionally, boxer Dmitrii Bivol is headlining an event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, against Malik Zinad, following Artur Beterbiev's withdrawal due to injury.
Diaz and Masvidal previously squared off inside the UFC octagon for the inaugural BMF title fight at UFC 244 in New York. Their upcoming rematch will transition to the boxing ring, with the fighters recently embarking on a promotional tour across four U.S. cities to build anticipation for the event.
At 38 years old, Diaz is no longer under UFC contract after securing a submission victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. He made his professional boxing debut against Jake Paul last August.
Masvidal, 39, remains under UFC contract but has received clearance to compete against Diaz in the boxing realm. His most recent UFC appearance was a unanimous decision loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.
