Nabil Anane Proud Of Dominant Victory Over Superlek In ONE 172 Rematch

ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nabil Anane showed his incredible evolution as a striker to cruise past Superlek Kiatmoo9 in their rematch at ONE 172.

Anane made his ONE Championship debut against Superlek in June 2023, and less than two years later he proved he’s a completely different athlete.

The transformation culminated in a sterling performance. And nobody was more ecstatic than the man himself.

“I feel so happy. And tonight, I did great work, and I'm proud of myself. I'm proud of my team, I'm proud of everyone,” Anane said at the post-event press conference.

Leveling the score with one of the pound-for-pound best strikers on the planet was a meaningful conclusion for the 6-foot-4 phenom.

However, it was not all sunshine and rainbows. Due to Superlek missing weight and hydration, the unification match didn't happen, leaving Anane to celebrate a resounding victory without golden confetti falling from the sky.

“Yes, winning [against] Superlek means a lot to me,” the bantamweight said.

“But what can I do? I don't know. I had a lot of sacrifices also for this fight, because Superlek was, to beat him, to fight him and win, was one of my goals. But I thought that I would have the title also.”

While many contribute his success to his incredible length, Anane assures everyone that there is much more to winning than just physical advantages.

If anyone doubts that, he wants them to make their way onto the global stage and prove it.

“Superlek actually weighed a little bit more than I do, and I want to let everyone know because a lot of people think that if you're tall, you have the advantage,” Anane said.

“If being tall is the sole reason that you can win, I want to invite everyone who is tall to come and fight and become a champion.”
