Manon Fiorot is an MMA fighter from France currently making waves in the Flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Starting with Karate
Born on February 17, 1990, in Nice, France, Fiorot's journey in combat sports began at a young age when she started practising Karate at the age of 7. She excelled in the sport and even won the French Snowboarding Championship during her time at a snowboarding school.
At the age of 18, Fiorot returned to karate and earned her black belt before joining the French national team. In 2014, she was selected for the Karate World Championships but suffered a serious injury shortly thereafter. Following her recovery, she discovered kickboxing and Muay Thai, where she achieved great success, winning several national competitions. Her amateur Muay Thai record stands at an impressive 12 victories and 0 defeats, with two national champion titles to her name. In addition, she has also clinched three national championship titles in K-1.
IMMAF European and World Championships
In 2017, Fiorot participated in the IMMAF European Open Championships, reaching the bantamweight final but losing to Cornelia Holm's wrestling prowess. However, she bounced back and went on to win the IMMAF World Championships a few months later.
On June 16, 2018, Fiorot made her professional MMA debut at Cage Warriors 94, facing Leah McCourt. Although she lost the fight by a split decision, it marked the beginning of her professional career and showcased her potential.
In 2019, Fiorot travelled to Johannesburg, South Africa, to participate in a reality show called The Fighter organized by the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC). After two months of intense competition, she emerged as the winner of the reality show's contest and earned a spot in the EFC. In December 2019, she claimed victory against Amanda Lino, becoming the EFC Women's Flyweight World Champion.
Following her success in the EFC, Fiorot joined UAE Warriors, a prestigious promotion based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. At UAE Warriors 12, she secured a third-round TKO victory over Corinne Laframboise. She continued her winning streak with TKO wins over Naomi Tataroglu at UAE Warriors 13 and Gabriela Campos at UAE Warriors 14, capturing the UAEW Flyweight Championship.
Making her debut in the UFC
Fiorot made her long-awaited UFC debut on January 20, 2021, at UFC on ESPN: Chiesa vs. Magny, where she faced Victoria Leonardo. In an impressive performance, she secured a second-round technical knockout, marking a successful start to her UFC career.
Throughout her UFC journey, Fiorot has faced tough opponents and showcased her skills in the Octagon. She secured notable victories against Tabatha Ricci and Mayra Bueno Silva, both via TKO. With her well-rounded skill set and determination, Fiorot has climbed the ranks of the UFC women's flyweight division.
Looking ahead, Fiorot is scheduled to face former UFC Women's Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas on September 2, 2023, at UFC on ESPN: Gane vs. Spivak in Paris.
