Liam Nolan Returns To ONE Championship After Brief Retirement

British striking sensation Liam Nolan is set to make his comeback to ONE Championship at ONE Fight Night 31 inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, where he faces Nauzet Trujillo in a rematch that offers "Lethal" a chance at redemption.

The 27-year-old fighter surprised fans last November when he announced his retirement from Muay Thai. However, after taking time to reassess his career and motivations, Nolan decided his love for the game was still there.

"It wasn't overnight. I just decided I had to focus on life. ONE is great, but after a couple of months, I spoke to my family and told them I needed to take a break from all of it for a while and get my house in order," Nolan said.

Nolan explained that his decision to return was spurred after a conversation with ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

"Chatri had just finished ONE 170 and still took the time to reach out and call me the next day. He just asked me what was going on and told me he believed in me. He broke down his story with rising through ONE, and how he started with no money, and how he turned it around. It was an inspiring story," Nolan said.

Nolan feels refreshed and more acclimated to the ONE Muay Thai global rule set. He assures fans that he plans to return in style at ONE Fight Night 31.

"Maybe the style has taken a bit of time to adapt to. I was more of a technical guy, and ONE is more demanding with the smaller gloves. I think it's just taken more time for me to wrap my head around it," Nolan said.

Revitalized, Nolan aims to live up to his nickname "Lethal" inside Lumpinee Stadium at ONE Fight Night 31 and even the score against Trujillo.

It was a winding road to make his return to the ring, but Nolan's new mindset is bringing him back to the global stage with more confidence than ever.

ONE Fight Night 31 will be broadcast live on JioHotstar and Star Sports Select 2 at 5:30 a.m. India Standard Time (IST) on Saturday, May 3.
