Kongthoranee Seeks Decisive Victory In Nong-O Rematch At ONE Fight Night 31

Number three ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender Kongthoranee Sor Sommai is determined to leave no doubts in his upcoming rematch against Nong-O Hama on May 3 at ONE Fight Night 31 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The flyweight showdown at Lumpinee Stadium comes less than three months after their first encounter at ONE Fight Night 28, where Kongthoranee claimed a split-decision victory that left many fans questioning the outcome.

"I was happy with my performance in the first fight, but others may have some doubts, so this time I will make it clear," Kongthoranee said, addressing the criticism he's received since February.

The 28-year-old isn't just fighting to silence critics -- he's positioning himself for a shot at the vacant divisional title. A convincing win over the former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion would significantly strengthen his claim.

Reflecting on his experience against the Thai icon, Kongthoranee has a straightforward strategy for the rematch.

"I learned that Nong-O has very good timing. The way to deal with him is that I have to be faster than him," Kongthoranee said.

Unlike some fighters who thrive on long-standing rivalries, Kongthoranee hopes to end this one decisively.

"I want to win this fight definitively so our rivalry can end here and there will be no trilogy match," he said.

The former three-time Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion revealed that negative feedback following their first bout has only fueled his preparation. Critics have only made him double down inside the gym.

"After I received a lot of trash messages, it motivated me to work harder so that no one will think negatively of me anymore," Kongthoranee said.

Promising an intense performance, Kongthoranee made his intentions clear that the main event will be a hotly contested showdown.

"I expect this fight to be fierce,” he said. “And as I said, if I get the chance to finish, I will go for it.”

ONE Fight Night 31 will be broadcast live on JioHotstar and Star Sports Select 2 at 5:30 a.m. India Standard Time (IST) on Saturday, May 3.
