Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, renowned for his undefeated record and unparalleled dominance in the octagon, has voiced hesitance about his son following in his footsteps.
Despite his storied career as a fighter and coach, Nurmagomedov revealed his preference for his son to explore avenues outside of combat sports. However, he acknowledges the growing curiosity his son has shown towards MMA, making his stance increasingly challenging to maintain.
During an appearance for Class A Events in Canada, Nurmagomedov disclosed his son's budding interest in MMA, recounting conversations where his son expressed admiration for fighters like Islam Makhachev. Reflecting on his son's inquiries, Nurmagomedov admitted to feeling conflicted, emphasizing his desire for his son to lead a normal life rather than pursue a career as a professional athlete.
Nurmagomedov's reservations come despite the success achieved by his cousins in the MMA realm. Umar Nurmagomedov, recently victorious over Bekzat Almakhan at UFC Fight Night 238, holds a top 10 ranking in the bantamweight division. Similarly, Usman Nurmagomedov boasts an undefeated record and currently reigns as Bellator's lightweight champion.
