Got kneed in the balls three times: Joanne Wood after UFC 286 win

Joanne Wood secured a huge win at UFC 286 today when she outclassed Luana Carolina via a unanimous decision.

While the win is something to celebrate about, it did not come without any price. After her win at UFC 286, Joanne sat down with the media for an interview and during the same, she revealed that she took in some illegal knees during the fight.

Speaking to the media, Joanna said that she was kneed three times ‘in the balls’ during the fight.

“Why did we not get five minutes? I needed it in there. I felt like I was going to do the toilet,” Wood said during the interview.

This was the first fight for Wood after her loss to Alexa Grasso. It also snapped her three-fight losing streak which saw her loss against current Flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and former title contenders Taila Santos and Lauren Murphy.

The Scot has now improved her professional MMA record to 16-8 with the win and will be looking to build on the same. She has been on a slow run lately and has only won 2 fights out of her last five fights.

Her last win had come against Jessica Eye at UFC 257 and prior to that, she had lost to Jennifer Maia.

Carolina, on the other hand, is now 8-4 in her professional MMA career. This is her second straight loss after losing to Molly McCann in her last fight at UFC Fight Night 204.
