India has secured four medals at the prestigious MTBSA World Pro-Am Muay Thai Championship (Beach Boxing) held in Pattaya, Thailand, with two silver medals, one gold, and one bronze, marking a historic achievement for the country in the sport.
The Indian team, represented by athletes from the Academy of Martial Science, delivered a strong performance in the championship, which took place from March 10 to March 15.
In the Female Youth Featherweight category, Theeksha Bharuni H.R made history by clinching the Gold Medal. Theeksha defeated a tough field of competitors to secure her title, cementing her position as one of the leading figures in Indian Muay Thai.
Earlier, Akshatha Shanbhogue B took home a Bronze Medal in the Female Featherweight category. Akshatha reached the semifinals before falling to the Philippines in a split decision, but her performance was praised for its resilience and skill.
In the Female Bantamweight category, Kavyashree K fought fiercely in the finals but ultimately lost to Iran’s Fathem Saghi in a split decision, earning a Silver Medal. Her spirited performance has been widely recognized as one of the highlights of the championship.
Also winning silver, Namrata Ravikiran secured second place in the Female Youth Featherweight category, after a tough final against fellow Indian athlete Theeksha Bharuni. The match ended in a decision, with Namrata finishing as the Silver Medalist.
With a total of four medals — one gold, two silver, and one bronze — India’s athletes have firmly established themselves as a powerful force in the global Muay Thai community.
These results add to India's growing legacy in combat sports, with more athletes from the country continuing to rise through the ranks and represent India on the world stage.
