Indian Fighters Add More Medals to Their Tally at IMMAF Asian MMA Championships

In a commendable display of skill and determination, Indian MMA fighters Labeeb Feroz and Zaid Shabir secured bronze medals for Team India at the IMMAF Asian MMA Championships 2023 in Bahrain. This achievement follows the outstanding Gold Medal victories by Kavin Kopperunko and Ayan Akef, bringing Team India's total tally in the Youth A, B, and C categories to 2 Gold Medals and 2 Bronze Medals.

Hailing from Kashmir, Zaid Shabir made a strong impact by securing a unanimous decision win against Humaid Al Ali of the UAE in the first round. This victory propelled him into the semi-finals, where he faced Dmitriy Zhizhin of Kazakhstan. Although Zaid couldn't secure a win in the semi-finals, his impressive performance throughout the championship earned him a well-deserved bronze medal.

Labeeb Feroz, also from Kashmir, showcased his resilience by competing for a Bronze Medal against Won Gyu Park of South Korea. Labeeb secured the victory via decision, adding a valuable bronze medal to Team India's collection. Despite a previous loss to Yegor Zheltov of Kazakhstan, who went on to clinch the Gold Medal in the bracket, Labeeb's determination shone through in his quest for podium glory.
