Russian MMA promotion Fights Night Global is planning to launch in India in association with Mixed Martial Arts Federation of India (MMAFI). The news was revealed by Fights Nights Global President Kamil Gadzhiev last day in an interview with a Russian outlet.

“I watch with great interest what is happening in Indian sports. All this impresses me very much. In general, Russia and India are close countries, we grew up on Indian films, we understand the culture of this country. Cricket in India is one of the iconic sports stories in world. I would like us to use this correct experience in MMA in India," he noted in the interview.

Fight Nights Global, also known as AMC Fight Nights was founded back in 2010 and has been actively hosting events across Russia and Kazakhstan. The promotion has so far held 108 events and was home to some big names like Nikita Krylov, Fabio Maldonando and Liana Jojua among others.

As part of the arrangement, Gadzhiev is planning to visit India in mid-December.

"I think we can create a headquarters for Fight Nights Global in India so that competent specialists, of whom there are many in this country, are engaged in the search for talents and the promotion of MMA," he added.

Talking further, he noted that Indian MMA fighters will be promoted in countries like Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus as part of the arrangement.

MMA Federation of India, meanwhile, has hosted numerous successful events over the past year. The federation is headed by Mayur Bansode and is set to host their next big event in December.
