Denice Zamboanga and Julie Mezabarba are set to lock horns at ONE Fight Night 9 as per Combate. ONE Fight Night 9, which is set to happen in Bangkok on April 22, 2023, will be headlined by a super showdown between Nong O Gaiyanghadao and Jonathan Haggerty for the ONE Muay Thai Bantamweight title.

While the official announcement is yet to be made from ONE Championship, the fight seems to make sense for both fighters.

Brazil’s Mezabarba is currently 9-4 in her professional MMA Career and is on a two-fight losing streak at the moment. In her last fight, she suffered a loss to Jenelyn Olsim and prior to this, she suffered a loss to Stamp Fairtex as well. She currently only has one win inside the ONE Championship circle with the win coming against Mei Yamaguchi back in 2021.

Mezabarba will be looking to bounce back and make a statement when she fights the Filipino MMA star at Strawweight.

As for Denice, she is 9-2 at the moment in professional MMA. In her last fight, she outclassed Lin Heqin to get a split decision win and prior to this, she had suffered two back-to-back losses to Seo Hee Ham.

Denice has been part of ONE Championship since 2019 and made her debut in the promotion with a win over Jihin Radzuan. She then defeated the likes of Mei Yamaguchi and Watsapinya Kaewkhong before locking horns with Seo Hee Ham.

Denice has been vocal about wanting a shot at the Atomweight title against Angela Lee but the fight with Mezabarba, interestingly, will happen at Strawweight much to the surprise of many.
