Colby Covington feels that Khabib Nurmagomedov was scared of him and noted that he is a better wrestler than Khabib.
Covington revealed the same during his recent interview with LowKick MMA and noted that he could take out Islam Makhachev as well.
Speaking in the interview, Colby noted that Makhachev struggles against Southpaws.
“He [Islam Makhachev] doesn’t fight well against southpaws. He knows what would happen [if he fights Covington] just like his daddy Khabib knew. That’s why Khabib never came to 170, because King Colby was here. Look at how much trouble he was having with that little short midget from Australia, Volkanovski. Dude, he’s a 45 featherweight, and you wanna come to 170 now and talk this big game?.” Covington noted this in the interview.
There were talks about Islam Makhachev potentially moving to Welterweight and challenging for the title.
Speaking further Covington noted that he had a better wrestler than Khabib.
“He knew he couldn’t out-wrestle me and that’s what those guys from Dagestan do. I am a way better wrestler, and my accolades speak for themselves. Division I All-American national champion. It’s a pretty easy match-up for me. I think I dust him [Makhachev] inside three rounds,” Covington noted.
Covington could be heading towards a Welterweight title fight against Leon Edwards. UFC president Dana White hinted at the same.
