I do not think he will be back: Charles Oliveira on Khabib Nurmagomedov

Charles Oliveira feels that Khabib Nurmagomedov is unlikely to come back from retirement even if he defeats Islam Makhachev at UFC 280.

There has been a lot of talk about Khabib possibly returning to the UFC if Oliveira beats Makhachev at UFC 280. Daniel Cormier recently shot down the possibility and noted that Khabib is not interested in return even if Oliveira pulls one over Makhachev.

And now, Oliveira has voiced his take on the situation as well. The Brazilian notes that he does not expect Khabib to return to action. He, however, believes that UFC wants the Russian superstar back on the roster.

“Honestly? I don’t think he’ll be back. I think this fight is happening now, mainly because of this, because the UFC wants him to come back,” Oliveira noted in his recent appearance on the Flow Podcast [h/t Sportskeeda].

The Hype is at an all-time high

The hype surrounding Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev is at an all-time high. The fight will be for the UFC Lightweight title and will headline the UFC 280 pay-per-view in Abu Dhabi.

Islam Makhachev is coming into the fight on the back of a 10-fight winning streak at the moment. His last win came against Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night 202 and prior to that, Makhachev had secured a win over Dan Hooker at UFC 267 as well.

Charles Oliveira, on the other hand, is 33-8 in his professional MMA career and is on an 11-fight winning streak himself. The Brazilian has cleaned out the top-five in the UFC Lightweight division with the only exception being Islam Makhachev.
