Bogota, Colombia is set to witness an extraordinary event as BRAVE Combat Federation makes its return to the capital after almost four years. In collaboration with Latin Fighter Championship, BRAVE CF 73 promises a thrilling fight card featuring some of the biggest names in the world of MMA. The highlight of the evening will be the first-ever world title fight to take place in Colombia, as Jose "Shorty" Torres squares off against Nkosi Ndebele for the vacant Bantamweight championship. The announcement was made by BRAVE CF president Mohammed Shahid during the broadcast of BRAVE CF 71.
Torres, an American IMMAF world champion, has earned recognition for his skills as a Flyweight. However, struggling to make weight, he decided to permanently move up to the Bantamweight division. In his debut at 135 pounds, he showcased his dominance by securing a unanimous decision victory over Izzedine Al-Derbani.
Known as one of the top fighters in the lighter weight classes, Torres holds the distinction of being the first-ever two-time IMMAF world champion and a double-weight champion at Titan FC. Since joining BRAVE CF, he has remained unbeaten, defeating notable opponents such as Amir Albazi and Blaine O'Driscoll. He also had a memorable draw against Sean Santella in the Flyweight division before moving up to his victory against Al-Derbani, setting the stage for his clash with Ndebele.
Nkosi Ndebele, who has exclusively competed under the BRAVE CF banner throughout his professional career, made his mark after an exceptional amateur career. Widely regarded as the best amateur fighter in Africa, Ndebele boasts an undefeated record at Bantamweight, with his only loss coming in a Featherweight fight against jiu-jitsu black belt Caio Gregorio.
Having defeated notable opponents such as Ian Cleary, Zia Mashwani, Abdelmoumen Msaate, and Fajar at 135 pounds, Ndebele showcased his immense potential in his pro debut against Featherweight contender Ahmed Farress. He secured a doctor stoppage victory in the first round, demonstrating his true talent.
BRAVE CF 73 will mark the third overall event organized by the global promotion in Colombia and the second in Bogota. This event highlights the organization's commitment to the Latin American MMA scene. Collaborating with Latin Fighter Championship and IMMAF, BRAVE CF will host the inaugural edition of the BRAVE Pan-American Combat Week from August 10 to 13.
