BRAVE CF Flyweight star Asu Almabaev has only one thing on his mind heading into BRAVE CF 66, which goes down in Indonesia, on November 26th. And that is to be a champion.

The third-ranked BRAVE CF Flyweight issued a brief but impactful statement to the BRAVE Combat Federation upon his arrival in Bali. The Kazakh, who will be competing against the undefeated Filipino MMA fighter and BRAVE CF rookie Kenneth Maningat in the evening's co-main event, stated,

"I want the championship fight next. This fight will be good. It's a nice match-up. Kenneth is a striker and I'm a wrestler, so it's a good mix,” says Almabaev who had an unforgettable 2021.

Two BRAVE CF Awards were given to him for his rear-naked choke victory over Aleksander Doslkalchuk at BRAVE CF 53: Submission of the Year and Breakthrough Fighter of the Year.

Almabaev added two more victories to his winning streak this year. Prior to earning the biggest victory of his mixed martial arts career by defeating Zach Makovsky at BRAVE CF 60, he defeated Imram Magaramov at BRAVE CF 57.

“The next thing I want after this fight is the belt, it's the title shot. Give me the belt,” added Almabaev

Almabaev is an expert in grappling and wrestling, having won 16 matches, with decisions and submissions accounting for 82 percent of his victories. He holds the top spot in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and the Middle East and is largely regarded as one of the best Flyweights in the world.

A protégé of former BRAVE CF star Rolando Dy, his opponent is unbeaten and riding a six-fight winning streak in his professional career. His most recent victory came in August when he defeated his fellow countryman Mark Oliva via technical knockout in the first round.

Maningat is a versatile athlete with strong ground and stand-up skills as 66 percent of his victories have been by way of stoppages, including two KO/TKOs and two submission wins.

Following the news of Idrisov's withdrawal, he was given the chance of a lifetime, and a victory for Maningat may change the course of his life and his career.
