Nicholas Hwende made history on May 31, submitting Omar Solomanov in the fifth round to capture the vacant BRAVE CF Featherweight World Championship in the main event of BRAVE CF 105 at Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The event, held in partnership with Alash Pride League, featured 14 bouts and marked BRAVE Combat Federation's return to Kazakhstan.
Hwende, a former BRAVE CF Bantamweight champion, overcame early adversity against interim titleholder Solomanov. The Ukrainian controlled much of the opening rounds with his wrestling and submission threats, repeatedly taking the fight to the ground and keeping Hwende on the defensive.
The Zimbabwean gradually shifted the momentum in his favor as the fight progressed, finding success with his own grappling exchanges before securing a tight D'arce choke in the fifth round. The submission forced Solomanov unconscious and crowned Hwende the undisputed featherweight champion.
With the victory, Hwende became only the second fighter in BRAVE CF history to win world titles in two different weight classes.
In the co-main event, Kazakhstan's Asyljan Tasket avenged a previous loss to Alexey Meshkov, knocking out the Russian in the fourth round to capture the Alash Pride Featherweight Championship. After controlling much of the contest with takedowns and top pressure, Tasket ended the fight with a looping left hand that finished Meshkov.
Elsewhere on the card, heavyweight prospect Rassul Khatayev earned a unanimous decision victory over Vladimir Petrenko, while top-ranked flyweight contender Dias Yerengaipov defeated late replacement Ryskulbek Ibraimov in a 63.5-kilogram catchweight bout.
Featherweight contender Rauan Bekbolat returned to the win column with a first-round triangle choke submission of Sardor Khudoyberdiev, and Zhanibek Tynyshtyk submitted Asylbek Rustambek Uulu in the third round of their catchweight contest.
Abdurakhman Umirzakov stopped previously highly regarded prospect Asadbek Ravshanov by second-round TKO, while Murad Abdurakhmanov impressed in his promotional debut with a first-round submission victory over Manas Temirbekov.
Representing Bahrain, unbeaten former IMMAF world champion Kurban Idrisov remained undefeated with a unanimous decision win over Rustem Kudaybergenov.
The preliminary card featured several notable performances, including second-round stoppage victories by Sultan Tagiev and Kadyrbek Shinbayev, while Argen Maratbek Uulu and Erkhan Zhumabaev secured decision wins.
