Double Gold: Kavin Kopperunko and Ayan Akef Dominate at IMMAF Youth MMA

In a historic moment for Indian MMA, Team India's young warriors, Kavin Kopperunko and Ayan Akef, showcased their prowess at the IMMAF Asian Youth MMA Championship. Kavin, at just 12 years old, emerged as India's first-ever IMMAF Asian Youth MMA Champion in the Youth C 37 KG category, while Ayan Akef secured gold in the 57KG Youth B category.

Kavin's journey to glory included a strategic win over Zaid Alsulaiteen of Kuwait in the semi-finals, securing a silver medal. In the finals, he outclassed Firuzjon Amrdinzoda of Tajikistan, earning a unanimous decision victory with a scorecard of 30-27. Notably, Kavin had earlier secured a Bronze Medal in the same category at the IMMAF Youth World Championship.

Ayan Akef, the 15-year-old sensation, displayed remarkable skill by defeating Haif Alqahtani of Saudi Arabia in the first round with a submission via kimura. In the semi-finals, he secured another impressive win by an armbar against Kevin El Medawar. Ayan's dominance continued in the finals, where he outclassed Abdulla Qahtan of Bahrain to clinch the second Gold Medal for India in the Youth B and Youth C categories.

Team India's stellar performance at the championship highlights the rising talent and dedication of these young fighters, emphasizing India's growing influence in the global MMA arena. The historic achievements of Kavin Kopperunko and Ayan Akef signify a promising future for Indian MMA.
