Legendary Aung La N Sang Talks About Retirement Fight With Zebaztian Kadestam

Two decades of professional fighting will culminate in one final performance when Myanmar legend Aung La N Sang steps into Lumpinee Stadium for his retirement bout against former ONE Welterweight MMA World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam on Saturday, 4 October, at ONE Fight Night 36.

The fight will mark the end of an extraordinary career that has spanned nearly two decades and established the Myanmar native as one of most celebrated MMA World Champions. The Kill Cliff FC representative's journey to greatness reached its peak in 2017 when he defeated Vitaly Bigdash to capture the ONE Middleweight MMA World Title.

His reign continued in spectacular fashion the following year, defeating Alexandre Machado via knockout to claim the vacant ONE Light Heavyweight MMA World Title, establishing himself as one of the few fighters to hold belts in multiple weight classes simultaneously. The retirement timing reflects his evolving priorities as both a father and mentor to the next generation of fighters.

"My kids are getting older, and I gotta put time into my kids and the next generation. I've been coaching a lot too, so I'm gonna do the right thing," the Kill Cliff FC representative explained about his decision to step away.Rather than viewing retirement with sadness, the Myanmar icon approaches his finale with unbridled enthusiasm, particularly about competing at the legendary Thai venue.

"I'm very excited. I wanted this, and I imagined this. I dreamed this, and it's happening, so it's going to mean the world to me to put on a great show in Lumpinee [Stadium]," he shared with obvious emotion.

His post-fighting vision centers on nurturing young talent through his upcoming Python MMA facility in Florida, USA.

"It's gonna be an MMA gym. It's gonna be something that I'm passionate about, and it's gonna be focused toward the next generation. I'm already training my son and my nephew, and their friends, and they're doing really good,” he said.
