ONE Championship has released five additional fighters from its roster, marking the latest round of cuts as the organization continues to reshape its athlete pool.Nick Atkin first reported the news on social media, revealing that three MMA fighters and two strikers have been removed from the promotion's active roster. The organization has updated each athlete's profile page with a "Released" tag on its official website.
The MMA departures include American Alyse Anderson, Pakistani veteran Ahmed Mujtaba, and Australian Reece McLaren. From the striking divisions, former ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Champion Alexis Nicolas and Canadian newcomer Cody Jerome have also been released.
Anderson's release comes after struggling to live up to initial expectations since her September 2021 debut. The 30-year-old American managed only one victory in four appearances, defeating India's Asha Roka via submission before suffering losses to Itsuki Hirata, Stamp Fairtex, and Victoria Souza.Mujtaba's departure follows a challenging period for the 32-year-old Pakistani fighter.
Despite compiling four wins and five losses in ONE Championship, his recent form declined significantly with three consecutive defeats against elite competition including Kade Ruotolo, Halil Amir, and Sage Northcutt.
The 33-year-old McLaren's release represents another veteran departure from the promotion's flyweight ranks.
Among the strikers, Nicolas's exit proves particularly notable given his former championship status. The 27-year-old Frenchman lost back-to-back ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship matches against Regian Eersel, failing to reclaim his crown.Jerome's brief ONE Championship tenure ended after just one appearance. The Canadian made his debut against America's Luke Lessei in a Muay Thai bout at ONE Fight Night 27 but suffered a TKO defeat. This latest round of releases follows significant roster changes throughout recent months. ONE Championship released six fighters in August, including striking veteran Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Smilla Sundell, Kwon Won Il, Shamil Adukhov, Celest Hansen, and Alex Roberts.July saw five additional departures: former submission grappling champion Danielle Kelly, Chinese MMA fighter Meng Bo, Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg, Xie Wei, and Antonio Mammarella.
