UFC champion Aljamain Sterling has come out with a clarification about the video which saw him staring at female reporter Helen Yee.

A video from a previous interview of him awkwardly looking at MMA reporter Helen Yee has leaked on the internet. Sharp-eyed netizens noticed Aljamain Sterling seemingly looking at Yee and questioned his actions.

Aljamain Sterling felt it was important to point out that he was staring at the microphone with the name of the publication Yee was representing.

"I was checking out the microphone, bruv,” he wrote on his Twitter page.

Sterling recently knocked out former champion T.J. Dillashaw in the second round of UFC 280. While the 'Funk Master' successfully defended his championship, Dillashaw's ailments hampered his performance, much to the chagrin of many fans.

Sterling's next opponent will be former two-division champion Henry Cejudo, who is returning from retirement. The fight will take place on May 6 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, at UFC 288.

Sterling currently holds a professional MMA record of 22-3 to his name and is on an impressive eight-fight winning streak.

Prior to his win against TJ Dillashaw, Sterling had secured back-to-back wins over Petr Yan as well with the first one coming via a controversial disqualification.

His last loss in the UFC came back in 2017 when he was knocked out by Marlon Moraes. Prior to this, Sterling had also suffered losses to Raphael Assuncao and Bryan Caraway. On the flip side, he has had wins over names like Pedro Munhoz, Cory Sandhagen, and Jimmie Rivera among others.
