Post-Fight Quotes:

Cory Sandhagen:

“I want a number one contender fight. I think Sterling should get the shot against Yan, he performed perfectly against me, and then I want, TJ is coming back in January, Frankie is still available, so one of those guys and then the belt afterwards. It’s hard to describe, I can be a really intense guy, I can be pretty tough, so it’s just being that, it’s hard to explain. Now they can see that I can knock them out, that’s what I’ve been working on. I don’t want to just go out and out point people, I want to knock people out, so that’s what we did.”

Edson Barboza:

“I’m very happy, that’s my second win in the featherweight division. I’m very happy to get my W, I think I fought well, not a lot of risk in the fight, feel great, I’m ready to fight as soon as possible. I know he would come back strong, of course I’m there always ready to finish the fight, I think I did a good job. If you see everyone in the top six, top seven, it’s great fighters. Imagine me against Calvin Kattar, me against Holloway, me against Yair, it’s going to be a great fight. All those guys in top six, top seven, it’s going to be a great fight,”

Marcin Tybura:

“I would love to have somebody form the top 10 now. I’m dreaming of a rematch with Derrick Lewis, the fight which I was winning and he knocked me out in the third. I know that’s something he’s used to doing, but I think I’ve developed from this time and I would love if he gave me a rematch,”

Dricus Du Plessis:

“My country has been through a lot through the years, fighting representing South Africa, not saying I’m an African born and moved to another country, I’ve been living in South Africa, I’m born there, bred there, train there. My team is in South Africa, my coach is South African, my teammates are all African. This is a great opportunity for me to step up and fight on the biggest stage in the world and to talk about things, South Africa is going through so much,”

Ilia Topuria:

“It’s an amazing feeling. I feel very good, it’s a lot of emotions right now. The chokes I did, I did it good, I don’t know how the guy didn’t tap out. He’s a tough guy, what can I say. It is what it is, next time I will try to make better chokes. It was my first time to go the distance. Now I have submission wins, knockout wins, and my first decision win, I have everything in one.”

Tom Aspinall:

“It was a lot easier this time, but I didn’t find it too difficult the first time to be honest. It’s not different than any other fight, at the end of the day, I’ve got to get in there and fight a massive guy who is looking to take my head off, every time, whether I’m fighting in the UFC or on a local show, it doesn’t matter, I’m fighting a big, dangerous guy, so I’m nervous every time. I’d like to fight Spivak because I did a full training camp for him and I fought and won and he’s without a fight now. The next time the UFC comes to Fight Island, we should get that on for sure.”
