Dana White has announced that UFC 261 will be headlined by the Welterweight Title rematch between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal. It was also noted that the show will have fans returning to the arena with no capacity limits.

UFC 261 earlier had two title fights on the card with Zhang Weili defending her UFC Strawweight title against Rose Namajunas while Antonio Shevchenko was slated to fight Jessica Andrade with the UFC Women’s Flyweight title on the line. The addition of Usman vs. Masvidal II makes the show bigger and is expected to be a huge boost for the UFC.

Masvidal and Usman last fought back on July 11, 2020, at UFC 251 when Masvidal took the fight on short notice. Usman came out victorious with a unanimous decision to win at the event and Masvidal had been campaigning for a rematch ever since. Usman, meanwhile, defended his title against Gilbert Burns back in February 2021 and extended his winning streak, and is currently riding high on a record-breaking momentum.

The event will be held at the VyStar Veteran’s Memorial Arena which has a seating capacity of 15,000. With no capacity limits in place, it would be interesting to see how the fans will turn out for the event. What do you think of the development?
