Four Team Lakay members are set to fight at ONE: Winter Warriors II. The announcement was made by Team Lakay today through their social media pages. Jhanlo Sangiao, Kevin Belingon, Stephen Loman, and Danny Kingad are the names that were announced by the team.
While Belingon and Kingad are mainstays in the promotion, Stephen Loman and Jhanlo Sangiao will be making their promotional debuts. Loman had signed with ONE Championship back in February 2021 and was supposed to fight John Linekar at ONE on TNT. The fight, however, did not go through.
Jhanlo, meanwhile, is a highly-touted prospect from the team and is also the son of Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao. You can see the complete statement from the team below.
"BRACE YOURSELVES, WINTER WARRIORS HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED!
The minstrels have finally sang the song of the arrival of Team Lakay – where the premiere athletes are set to compete this December at ONE: WINTER WARRIORS 2.
ONE: WINTER WARRIORS II will be recorded at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in early December, with the show airing across the world via tape delay on Friday 17 December.
The four athletes are as follows: Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, Danny “The King” Kingad, Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, and Jhanlo Mark “The Machine” Sangiao – all of which will bring forth their battle torch in the One Championship circle against separate opponents.
After his last appearance in October 2020, former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon is hoping to get back on the winning track as he faces South Korea’s "Pretty Boy" Kwon Won Il.
Danny Kingad is finally returning after his appearance last January 2020, who left a great impression after defeating Xie Wei. Kingad will be facing the #4 contender and former flyweight king Kairat Akhmetov of Kazakhstan.
One of the anticipated Team Lakay athlete is no other than the undisputed bantamweight Stephen “The Sniper” Loman – who now will have his debut match against the #3-ranked bantamweight contender Yusup Saadulaev.
Lastly, after the announcement of One Championship that Jhanlo Mark Sangiao is now officially signed, the anticipation for his debut match has been up the charts. The unbeaten prospect who is also the son of Team Lakay Head Coach Mark Sangiao’s son, will have his debut match against Indonesia’s Paul “The Great King” Lumihi.
This is another milestone for the Team knowing that two athletes having their return and two with their debut matches will rock the One Championship circle one more time. Coach Mark says he is honored with the trust that ONE Championship has given the team, and they are proud to represent the Philippines on the global stage. He adds that the Team Lakay athletes will be facing tough opponents so it's not going to be easy.
Not bowing to the whims of destiny, Team Lakay rushes forward to face the challenges. Ebb forth and upheave the land with the flames of battle. Team Lakay is on fire!"
