Saygid Izagakhmaev, teammate of Khabib Nurmagomedov joins ONE Championship

Russian MMA fighter and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s teammate Saygid Izagakhmaev has signed with ONE Championship. The news was revealed by Khabib Nurmagomedov today through his social media pages and it was revealed that Saygid will be making his promotional debut in December.

“I want to share news with you guys, my brother Saygid Izagakhmaev has signed a contract with @ONEChampionship and his next fight will be on December. Thank you so much @yodchatri it would be impossible without you, see you my Friend, it was nice to meet you,” Khabib wrote on his Twitter.

Currently holding a professional record of 19-2 to his name, Saygid has fought in many promotions including GFC, EFC, and UAE Warriors. He has been closely associated with the Khabib for a long time now. Earlier, Khabib’s father, the late Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov had said that Saygid is one of the best sparring partners of Khabib.

He had started his MMA career through the amateur circuit back in 2012 and went on to fight multiple times in the amateur circuit before turning professional in the year of 2013.

The Russian is currently riding on a two-fight winning streak after suffering a submission loss in UAE Warriors earlier this year. The only other loss in his professional MMA career came back in 2018 when he suffered a decision defeat in Fights Night Global 87.

The addition of Saygid is expected to be a boost for the ONE Championship Welterweight division which already has some interesting names. Kiamrian Abbasov is the reigning champion in the division as well.
