Indian Boxer Sagar Narwat was crowned the WBC Asia Continental Super Welterweight champion at The Punch 7 today at Crowne Plaza, Noida with a win over Rahul Kumar.
Sagar and Rahul produced an exciting fight that went the complete distance. Sagar was having a good amount of success with his offense when Rahul was mostly working on his back foot. It was the offense of Sagar that came out on top in the end as he was adjudged the winner via a unanimous decision.
Currently ranked first in the Super Welterweight category as per WBC India and BoxRec Rankings, Sagar Narwat held a professional record of 12-1-1 to his name and was coming off a win against Manish Harode at The Punch 6. He is also riding high on a three-fight winning streak ahead of the fight with Rahul at The Punch 7.
Rahul Kumar, meanwhile, was 7-4-1 in his professional career and was coming off a loss against Arun Antil at The Punch 6. He was on a two-fight winning streak prior to this defeat. He is ranked seventh in the Welterweight Rankings by WBC India for the month of August 2021.
