Ritu Phogat secured a huge win in her ONE Championship debut as she defeated Nam Hee Kim of South Korea with a first round TKO via ground and pound.
The fight, which only lasted till the latter parts of the first round, saw Ritu capitalizing on her wrestling skills to get the better of her opponent. Early in the round, both the fighters had some scramble on the ground with Ritu dominating mostly. While Kim did manage to land a couple of isolated strikes, nothing proved to be significant and threatening to Ritu.
The stoppage came after a barrage of punches and elbows while having her opponent in the crucifix.
Ritu Phogat, who transitioned from wrestling to Mixed Martial Arts earlier this year, had a full-fledged fight camp at Evolve MMA ahead of the fight. The debut of Ritu will indeed go down as a milestone in the history of Indian MMA and it would be interesting to see what the future holds for her.
