Muhammad Mokaev made his much-awaited professional MMA debut today at BRAVE CF 37 and that too in style. The former IMMAF World Champion went up against Glenn McVeigh at the event and picked up a dominant decision victory.
The first-round had plenty of action. In the starting minutes, both fighters relied on their stand-up skill and exchanged some strikes and kicks. The round, however, turned in favour of Mokaev when the fight went to the ground. Mokaev showed off his grappling prowess once again in the second round by securing a neck-crank. To his credit, McVeigh survived the same and managed to survive the round despite being on the defence.
McVeigh successfully fended off a takedown attempt from Mokaev in the start of the third-round but fell prey to another takedown in the second minute of the round. The Irishman showed a lot of heart to escape from the attempts that were thrown in by Mokaev and once again, survived the round without getting submitted. In the scorecards, however, Mokaev had a comfortable win.
Mokaev came into the fight with an exceptional amateur record of 23-0 and had to undergo multiple opponent changes before his fight with Glenn McVeigh was finalized. The fight made on short notice had its fair share of tension and hype as well. Mokaev and McVeigh almost ended up brawling as well when they crossed paths in the hotel ahead of the weigh-ins.
Another IMMAF World Champion Bianca Antman also got a huge win on the BRAVE CF 37 when she knocked out Veera Nykanen in the third-round of her professional debut with a head kick.
What do you think should be next for Mokaev?
