Kim Jae Woong knocks out Martin Nguyen at ONE: Revolution in a huge upset

Martin Nguyen returned to action today at ONE: Revolution as he went up against Kim Jae Woong in an exciting Featherweight contest.

Nguyen pushed forward in the early minutes with his low kicks and had Kim on the back foot. The tables turned midway through the round as Kim tried to move forward with some aggressive movement. Kim then went on to land a huge right hand which stopped the match and gave him the knockout win in the first round itself. An emotional Kim thanked all his supporters and his coach after the match. It was also announced that Kim will be getting the next title shot in the division. 

Prior to his match at ONE: Revolution, Nguyen had suffered a defeat against Thanh Le at ONE: Inside the Matrix. He was riding on a two-fight winning streak before this defeat having picked up stoppage wins over Koyomi Matsushima and Narantungalag Jadambaa.

Kim Jae Woong, meanwhile, came into the fight with a professional MMA record of 11-5 to his name. In his last fight, he had picked up a win over Tetsuya Yamada at ONE: Big Bang 2.

ONE Revolution was the latest offering from ONE Championship after ONE: Empower which was an all-women fight card from the promotion. ONE Revolution was headlined by three title fights with Christian Lee defending his Lightweight World Title against Ok Rae Yoon when Capitan went up against Mehdi Zatout in a Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title Fight.

Joshua Pacio vs. Yosuke Saruta for the ONE Strawweight title was the third title fight on offer at the event which also had Martin Nguyen, Amir Aliakbari, Victoria Lee, and many others on the card.
