Khamzat Chimaev has hit out at his critics. The undefeated UFC Fighter pointed out examples of former UFC Champions Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Jon Jones to say that he has only started out his career in the promotion.
“Who did like, go in the cage, ten fights, ten finishes? The guys tell like, ‘Oh, he didn’t fight this guy. He didn’t fight that guy.’ But the guys who’s the best guys – Jon Jones. His first four fights in UFC, he get the punch. I didn’t get the punch. We don’t say his first fights, he didn’t get the best ones; the guys, you know, like, super good guys,” Khamzat said in a recent interview (h/t Sportskeeda).
He further took the examples of Conor McGregor and Khabib as well.
"Nobody. Conor didn’t get that; crazy good guys in their first fights. Nobody. Khabib didn’t get crazy good guys. I just need the time,” he added.
Khamzat currently holds a professional MMA record of 10-0 to his name and has been unstoppable so far. He is now 4-0 in the UFC after making his promotional debut back in 2020 against John Phillips. After this, he defeated Rhys McKee, Gerald Meerschaert, and Jingliang Li, all coming via finishes.
Prior to joining the UFC, Khamzat had a successful run in BRAVE Combat Federation as well where he built a 4-0 record with all of his four wins coming via finishes.
