Japanese MMA fighter Namiki Kawahara believes that Joshua Pacio’s days as the ONE Strawweight champion are numbered. He revealed the same during his recent interview with SCMP MMA and noted that the real contenders in the division are on the rise.
“He’s a good fighter, but the real strawweight contenders are just starting to gather to the division – the real ones that are going up to the top, including myself. I think it’s only a matter of time before a new champion emerges,” he told.
Kawahara made his ONE Championship debut back in January 2021 and had suffered a loss to Pacio’s teammate Lito Adiwang. He will be making his return in April when he fights Danial Williams. The Japanese fighter currently holds a record of 7-4-1 to his name and was on a two-fight winning streak prior to his loss against Lito Adiwang.
