Jhanlo Mark Sangiao made a statement in his promotional debut in ONE Championship. The Team Lakay star managed to submit an experienced Paul Lumihi in the first round itself to secure the win and in turn, improved his record to 4-0 as well.
Speaking to Sportskeeda about his victory, Jhanlo said that he had worked for the moment since he was a kid.
“I've worked for it since I was a kid. I worked so hard and we got the win. I'm so happy. Of course, I wanted to get that finish. Actually, we prepared for it - the rear-naked choke. It was either [going to be] ground and pound or rear-naked choke. I think [it's a specialty]” Jhanlo said.

Son of Team Lakay Head Coach and Founder Mark Sangiao, Jhanlo had a lot of pressure on his shoulders ahead of his debut at ONE: Winter Warriors II. The youngster, however, managed to rise up to the occasion and secured an important win for his team at the event which saw Danny Kingad and Kevin Belingon suffer defeats.
Jhanlo had made his professional debut back in 2018 at the Team Lakay Championship and fought under the banner for a year more before signing up with ONE Championship. All three of his wins before he joined ONE Championship came via finishes as well with two coming via submission when one came via TKO.
