Jarred Brooks is set to make his ONE Championship return at ONE: Only the Brave on 28 January 2022. Brooks will be going up against Hiroba Minowa at the event and the American feels that Minowa will be posing a big challenge for him.
Brooks made his promotional debut in ONE Championship against Team Lakay star Lito Adiwang and managed to get a submission victory. Speaking to ONE Championship, he noted that Minowa does not get the credit he deserves.
“Hiroba’s probably super excited for this fight. He doesn’t seem like he’s the type to post on social media and stuff like that. It seems like he tries to harness a lot of energy and express it out at one time. I see a lot of great qualities in a fighter in him. He doesn’t get enough recognition,” Brooks said.
He further went on to add that Minowa will be a bigger challenge for him when compared to his outing against Adiwang.
“In this fight, it’s going to be harder than Lito’s fight, for sure, because [Minowa] is a winner. That dude doesn’t lose usually. I’m going to be super aggressive on him, and I’m going to throw hands in this fight and actually show people that grapplers do have hands. [The game plan] just depends on who I’m going against. If I’m going against Lito Adiwang, the king of the punching, I’m not going to punch with him. I’m going to take the king of punching down and tap them out. Then see where I go from opponent to opponent,” Brooks added.
When concluding, Brooks said that he is going to give Minowa some lessons.
“That young kid won’t get tired, in my opinion. I think that he’s just going to get pounded on. He’s just going to get big brothered in there. That’s how I look at it. He’s a young kid. I got to give him some butt spankings – you know what I’m saying?,” he said.
