The 2021 IMMAF World Championships are all set to have a major Indian presence. As we noted earlier, more than 13 athletes will be competing for the nation at the event and now, five technical officials from the country are confirmed to take part in the event which is happening in Abu Dhabi in January.
The team will be led by MMA India president Sharif Bapu who has a wealth of experience in refereeing matches on the international stage. His most recent outing saw him officiate for the Bahrain MMA Federation in Bahrain as well.
MMA India Federation General Secretary Prasad Gaitonde, MMA India Federation VP Vikash Sharma, international referee in the ranks of MMA India Federation Nitin Singh, and MMA India Vice President Kevin Alfred David will be the other four names that will be in the IMMAF Technical team for the World Championships.
Along with them, MMA India Technical Director Ajit Sigamani and Shaik Khalid will be traveling with the team as coaches. The team will also have Varsha Raju Easwaran as Dietitian and Suresh Franklin as the Physio on board. Dr. Divya Nitin Singh will also be on-board as the Physio for the team.
The 2021 IMMAF World Championship was rescheduled to 24th to 29th January 2022 following an earlier cancellation of the event (due to the pandemic), which was to be originally held in Kazakhstan. Despite the pandemic, the championship is expected to see huge participation featuring athletes across the globe in different weight categories.
