The 2022 IMMAF Pan American Championships are done and dusted following three days of explosive action in Monterrey, Mexico. The action got underway at 11 am (UTC-5) local time. Sixteen finals took place in Cage 1 to determine the champions of each division.

Mexico’s Brenda Castro and Wendy Widrobo Espinoza got us underway in the atomweight division. It was Castro who had the edge, submitting Espinoza in the second round after taking her back and locking in a rear-naked choke.

In the end, Mexico finished top of the medal table with a tally of six gold medals. Jaime Sierra and Aaron Rios both stood out. Each of them won via submission in their respective division.

Brazil made it a hat-trick of wins in the women’s divisions. Giulliany Perea, Josiane Oliveira and Ana Vitoria Diniz all comfortably won their bouts. Oliveira was forced to go the distance in her bout, while both Perea and Diniz utilised their slick submission skills to win via kneebar.
