Indian MMA star Himanshu Kaushik has been a mainstay in ONE championship for quite a long time now. And while the MMA fans in India is looking forward to what the future holds for him, Himanshu has his eyes set on former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong “Kru Rong” Sor Amnuaysirichoke.

Himanshu had fought Sor Amnuaysirichoke back in November 2018 at ONE: Heart of Lion and suffered a second-round submission defeat. However, the Indian star feels that he can take out the former champion if given another chance.

“I would like to fight Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke next because the last time we fought, I was not fully fit. I performed well in the first round, but I fatigued very quickly and I could not give 100 per cent. I hope I get a rematch because I have been waiting for this match for a long time now,” he said in an interview with ONE Championship.

He also went on to note that he improved his grappling since the defeat and is on a mission to prove that Indian MMA fighters can excel both in striking and in grappling.

“I have improved my game, especially my grappling. If there is a rematch in the future, I would try to go for more takedowns, land ground and pound, and submit him. I want to prove that Indians are not only good at striking, but also grappling. I would like to correct my mistakes in the previous match, and make my countrymen proud!,” he added.

The 29-year-old, however, will have to wait to get back into the cage as the ONE championship events are currently on hold to the on-going COVID-19 situation. Himanshu is also making the best out of the lockdown situation and improving his skills in the meantime.

“I am trying to do as much training as I can at home so that I keep busy. As of now, I am doing some CrossFit exercises. My whole focus is on my conditioning and increasing my stamina. I am also trying to better my grappling game. I am working a lot on this, and I will continue doing it in the future. Plus, I am also meditating every morning. I think it is really important for everyone to meditate. I am really excited and looking forward to returning to the Circle. Whenever I get the opportunity, I will be completely ready,” he said.
