Manjit Kolekar is all set to make her return at Brave CF 30 in Hyderabad this weekend.
A distinguished name in the Indian MMA scene, Manjit wrapped up her fight camp in Indian Combat Sports Academy (ICSA) in Bangalore this time around and is ready for her fight with Italy’s Samin Kamal Beik on Saturday. The fight will mark her return to India after a two-year gap and she is thankful for getting such an opportunity.
Manjit Kolekar: It’s after a very long time that I got an opportunity to fight in India and Brave CF gave this opportunity and I want to thank Brave and I’m happy that I’m getting an opportunity to fight in India
At the same time, the ‘Indian return’ storyline adds some extra importance to the fight.
Manjit Kolekar: It is very important for me as I’m fighting in India after a long time. And it is very necessary for me to win. I don’t have any game plans like I have to do this or I have to do that, I just want to go out there and give my best
One of the most interesting things leading up to Manjit’s fight was her fight camp. She moved to ICSA to prepare for the fight and got some good support from the team which according to her, made her ready in no time.
Manjit Kolekar: I got a recommendation about ICSA saying that it has good coaches and training partners and when I went and checked it, it did turn out to be one of the best gyms in India. The preparations went very well for this fight. Even though I got less time to prepare, I got a lot of support from the gym. Coach Jitesh supported a lot and training partners also contributed well. And I couldn’t believe that I got ready so fast. It was because of the team and thank you team. Regarding the fight, I don’t want to tell much about it or my opponent as well. Just all the best to her.
With the fight just around the corner, Manjit had the following message for everyone that was looking forward to seeing her back in the cage.
Manjit Kolekar: The Indian crowd will be hopeful of seeing me get a win and I will be giving my 100 per cent in the fight.
Brave CF 30 happens on November 23 in Hyderabad and will be headlined by the Bantamweight title fight between Stephen Loman and Louie Sanoudakis.
