ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong noted on Twitter that he is a strong believer in India when it comes to Martial Arts and said that India will see many World champions in the future.

Sityodtong tweeted out the same via his official Twitter account after we at LockerRoom managed to squeeze in a question about Indian MMA on ONE Championship’s interaction thread on the Social Media Platform.

We posed the following question to the ONE Championship supremo.

“A lot of Indian fighters are showing great potential in ONE Championship right now. Do you think India could be the next thing in MMA? Also, how big role will ONE Championship play in growing MMA in India?”

Sityodtong replied that he is a strong believer in India when it comes to Martial Arts. He also noted that Ritu Phogat will be the first of many World Champions from the nation.

“Yes, I am a big believer in India for martial arts! India has a rich history of warriors. I believe Ritu [Phogat] will be the first of many world champions that emerge from India!” he tweeted.

The Indian MMA fighters have been on an impressive run recently in ONE championship with the latest victories coming at ONE Warrior Series 10 where Rana Rudra Pratap Singh and Manthan Rane outclassed their opponents. Ritu Phogat, Roshan Mainam, Rahul Raju, Puja Tomar, and Himanshu Kaushik had also secured wins at the promotion recently.

As for Ritu, she will be making her second ONE Championship appearance at King of the Jungle next week when she fights China’s Wu Chiao Chen.
