The much-awaited showdown between Bhabajeet Choudhury and Jason Ramesh Solomon at Matrix Fight Night 6 is apparently off the table as per Bhabajeet.

In an exclusive statement to LockerRoom India, Indian MMA star Bhabajeet Choudhury noted that Jason has pulled out of the fight with just three weeks to go for the showdown.

“I was notified by the MFN Team that Jason has pulled out of the match saying that he cannot take the vaccine. When Matrix Fight Night first called, the first thing they asked was about the status of the vaccine. If he did not want to take the vaccine, he had to say at that time not with just one month away from the fight. If he is injured or sick, it is acceptable because, in training camp, all the fighters get injured but not taking the vaccine and showing it as a reason is unacceptable,” Bhabajeet said.

Hailing from Assam, Bhabajeet has an impressive resume to showcase with eight stoppage wins on his professional MMA career alone. He said that he had spent a lot of time on camp for the fight as well.

“I spent a lot of effort for my camp for this fight. I had a camp in Bidang MMA first and then went to Gurgaon for the second phase of my camp which just ended last day. I was planning to wrap up the camp in Bidang MMA and this happens,” he added.

‘The Stretcher’ went on to add that Jason was the one that challenged him in the first place and people making noises on social media should show up for the fight.

“A lot of people make noises on social media but don’t show up for the fight. Jason and many other fighters challenged me many times for the fight through social media and when the fight was finally about to happen, he pulled out citing vaccination as the reason. I think it is unprofessional from his side and that the reason is a mere excuse since he is afraid,” Bhabajeet said.

He noted that although Matrix Fight Night was looking for a replacement, but is yet to find an opponent for him as per Bhabajeet.

“It is frustrating for an athlete. If such things happen, how can we focus on fighting and training? ” he asked.

Meanwhile, In a statement, Alan Fenandes, Director of Operations at Matrix Fight Night noted the following.

"At Matrix Fight Night (MFN), We are trying to put the best fights possible and give opportunities for top fighters of the countries. But certain rules and protocols are governing events all around the world at the moment due to COVID-19. so, if fighters are not following it, our hands are tied,"

We have also reached out to Jason Ramesh Solomon for a statement regarding the situation and will be updating when we get a response.
