BRAVE CF 47: Rolando Dy is ready to make history for Filipino MMA at the event

BRAVE CF 47: Asian Domination will oppose a rising star in Abdisalam Kubanychbek and a top veteran in Rolando Dy. The Filipino champion is in the middle of a career resurgence rarely seen in mixed martial arts. He has been able to reinvent himself at Lightweight and is now one fight from a title shot at BRAVE Combat Federation. He is grateful for the opportunity given and ready to fly the flag of the Philippines to the highest of places.

A true patriot, Dy has reflected on his past year, as a new father, looking for a fight to make ends meet, and finishing off a complicated 2020 with the prize of Fighter of The Year for the fastest-growing MMA organization in the world.

While Rolando looks to get one step closer to achieving his dream, he will set out on a path for recognition to his peers. The global opportunity afforded to him will place him firmly at the top of the list of Philippines’ MMA.

‘’I was very happy to be named Fighter of The Year, actually, I am still very happy. I never stopped training, and I never stopped trusting in myself. I knew the opportunity would come and it did. They called me to face the Magic Man (Maciej Gierszewski) and John Brewin and I won. I never said no to monsters, so when I came to Lightweight they gave me monsters. And I beat them, so I deserve this. I’m looking forward to representing my country at the highest level and getting the Philippines to the top of MMA’’.

For ‘’The Incredible’’, 2020 has been a blissful year, and one he will never forget. He went up in weight permanently and is now one fight away from fighting for the world title. Not only that, he has welcomed his first-born, baby Joy Gabrielle Dy, and is now fighting for more than glory.

‘’I’m fighting to set a good example for my Joy. I know she will be a fighter because she has my genes, as I have my father’s genes. But I want her to be proud of me, and I want her to be able to tell everyone when she grows up that her father was a world champion’’.

But before he can make this dream scenario a reality, another ‘’monster’’ lies in waiting. Rolando takes on Kubanychbek, and is aware of the dangers of this match-up, but excited to put his experience to use and win another huge fight.

‘’He’s a top fighter, he’s the best in his region, but this is nothing new to me. I’ve fought monsters early in my career, I’ve fought undefeated fighters and gave them their first loss. His strength, his pace, and his wrestling are problems that I need to deal with. He’s powerful, brave, and fearless. But I’m more precise, I’m faster and I’m smarter than him. I’ve fought tougher competition. I know I can outsmart him. It will either be a mauling from him or schooling from me’’.

BRAVE CF 47: Asian Domination puts together the top fighters from every region in Asia and will be headlined by Dy vs Kubanychbek on March 11th. The winner will be given a title shot against whoever comes out on top between Amin Ayoub and Ahmed Amir, who face off at BRAVE CF 50 for Ayoub’s Lightweight crown.
