Indian Boxer Amit Panghal ranked number 1 in the latest AIBA Rankings

Indian Boxer Amit Panghal has been ranked number 1 in the latest AIBA rankings. A World Championship Silver Medallist, Amit is ranked first in the 52 KG Category and it will come down as a huge confidence boost for Amit who is set to compete in the Olympics soon.

In a statement, Amit noted that he is motivated by the rankings and added that he is looking forward to the national camp.

Apart from Amit, Kavinder Bisht also made major strides in the rankings as he was ranked 4th while Deepak and Manish Kaushik were ranked sixth in the respective weight categories. Manju Rani was ranked second in the 48 KG category while Mary Kom (51KG) and Lovlina Borgohain (69KG) came in at number 3 in their respective weight categories.

Jamuna Boro, Sonia Chahal, Simranjit Kaur, Pooja Rani and Seema Poonia also found places in the top 10 rankings of various weight categories. Jamuna Boro (54KG) was ranked fifth while Sonia Chahal (57KG) was ranked fourth. Simranjit Kaur (64KG) came in at ninth when Pooja Rani (81KG) was eight ranked. Seema Poonia was ranked sixth in the +81 KG category.

A total of nine Indian boxers have qualified for the upcoming Olympics and the national camp for the same is expected to start soon in Patiala.
