Bahrain last night, where it welcomed a new Bantamweight and new Light Heavyweight world champions – Brad Katona and Mohammed Fakhredddine respectively. One of the most conflicting events of the night was the Interim Lightweight World Championship bout, which saw the crowning of Abdisalam Kubanychbek despite the judges ruling the bout a no contest.

In the second round of the Interim Lightweight World Championship between Kubanychbek and former BRAVE CF World Champion Cleiton Silva, the referee put a stop to the bout after what seemed to be illegal shots to the back of the head. After the night was declared a no contest by the Roaring Lion Claros Kreme, Kubanychbek took the cage to protest the result.

BRAVE CF President Mohammed Shahid stepped in and presented Kubanychbek with the Interim Lightweight World Champion belt to the surprise of the fans crowding the arena.

BRAVE CF Lightweight Champion Ahmed Amir rushed the stage following the declaration of Kubanychbek as the new Interim Lightweight Champion. The two fighters got into an altercation which was tamed via the referees and security team.

Following the announcement, BRAVE CF President clarified the reason behind giving Kubanychbek the belt and shedded light into the future of the Lightweight division.

“Kubanychbek deserves the Interim Title,” says Shahid. “He showed up, he made weight, and those strikes were not illegal. He will get his shot to unify the title with the champion Ahmed Amir next.”

The animosity between Kubanychbek and Amir has reached a new level and the future of the Lightweight division remains paved with some of the toughest contenders on the planet. BRAVE Combat Federation dedication towards highlighting the best fighters across the world regardless of their marketability, race, religion, and gender has proved that talent should always be the only variable.
