Hailing from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Makovsky emerged from a talented family, where his parents supported his wrestling journey alongside his sister's pursuit of gymnastics. While their initial reservations about his involvement in hand-to-hand combat were apparent, Makovsky's passion for martial arts movies fueled his determination to follow a similar path.

He embarked on his journey by enrolling in a taekwondo class, progressing through the ranks of belts, and recognizing the need to delve deeper into the world of fighting.
