In a highly anticipated trilogy fight, Valentina Shevchenko reclaimed the UFC women’s flyweight title with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Alexa Grasso on Saturday night at UFC 306 in Las Vegas. The judges scored the bout 50-45 in favor of Shevchenko, marking a decisive conclusion to their rivalry.
Shevchenko, who was shockingly submitted by Grasso in their first meeting and fought to a controversial split draw in their rematch, showcased her elite skills throughout the five-round contest. The former champion delivered precise strikes and well-timed takedowns, controlling much of the fight on the ground.
Grasso had her moments, attempting multiple submission holds, but Shevchenko’s composure and ground control proved too much for the Mexican fighter. Shevchenko took control early in the first round and never let go, securing a significant takedown and landing effective strikes from the top position.
As the rounds progressed, Shevchenko continued to outwork Grasso, using her grappling expertise to nullify Grasso’s submission attempts and maintain dominant positions. The victory restores Shevchenko to the top of the division and ends their rivalry on her terms.
This win marks Shevchenko’s return to the top of the flyweight division after losing the title in 2023.
