Ten Indian Boxers Reach Finals at U19 Asian Boxing Championships

Ten Indian boxers, including seven women, advanced to the finals of the U19 Asian Boxing Championships on Friday after posting convincing semifinal victories in Bangkok.

Women finalists include Nisha (54kg), Muskan (57kg), Vini (60kg), another Nisha (65kg), Aarti Kumari (75kg), Parchi Tokas (80+kg) and Kritika (80kg), who entered directly. In the men’s event, Mausam Suhag (65kg), Rahul Kundu (75kg) and Hemant Sangwan (90kg) reached the title bouts.

Nisha (54kg) scored a 5-0 win over Japan’s Himari Watanabe, while Vini and the second Nisha defeated Chinese opponents Ruixue Li and Ziyue Bao, respectively. Muskan rallied to beat China’s Jiaen Wang 4-1, Aarti forced a stoppage against Vietnam’s Thanh Tuyen Tran, and Parchi edged Kazakhstan’s Zhaksylyk Sanina 3-2.

In the men’s semifinals, Suhag blanked Iran’s Akshan Hashemi 5-0, Kundu defeated Kazakhstan’s Shildebay Nursultan 5-0 and Sangwan shut out China’s Qirui He 5-0.

Yashika (51kg), Akanksha Phalaswal (70kg), Shivam (55kg) and Gaurav (85kg) earned bronze medals.
