Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri did not expect his moment to come this fast. But when it arrived, he was ready.
The 24-year-old Thai gets his first-ever ONE World Title opportunity when he challenges ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon in the main event of The Inner Circle 30 on Friday, September 11, broadcasting on live.onefc.com from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym product carries a 127-36 striking record and a 10-fight win streak into the biggest fight of his career, having earned his main roster contract through the ONE Friday Fights circuit just like the champion he is now chasing. For Yod-IQ, the speed at which this opportunity has arrived added a layer of surprise to what is otherwise a moment he has been working toward his entire career.
"When I saw the fight card pairing me against Rambolek, I was a bit shocked because my time came so fast. But it felt earned because it's such a massive opportunity," he said.
The all-Thai matchup adds a fascinating coaching subplot, with Yod-IQ guided by former ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai, the same man who has crossed paths with Superbon under the ONE banner.
Yod-IQ believes the physical dimensions of this matchup work in his favor, and he is not keeping that assessment to himself.
"I'm physically bigger than Rambolek. It might not be a huge difference, but I am bigger. Plus, my versatility of strikes is a big factor. If the opportunity comes, I definitely want to go for the knockout," he explained.
When it comes to the cerebral side of the fight, Yod-IQ sees an even contest shaped by two world-class coaching teams capable of making the decisive adjustments in the championship rounds.
"When it comes to fight IQ, I don't think Rambolek and I are far apart at all. He has Superbon, and I have Tawanchai. Both sides will make good adjustments, so the gap isn't wide at all. Everything is ready. We just need to test it inside the ring," he added.
